Rovaniemi log house company has recently finished a new modern wooden cottage in Oulu region of Finland.
The modern wooden cottage is situated on the shore of the Gulf of Bothnia offering the amazing view towards the sea. This house is a custom designed by architect Kauko Rytilahti together with the owners of the house, and supplied by Rovaniemi Log House company. The house has 157 square meters of internal space. Below is the house plan. The entrance to the house is at the bottom of the plan. Bedrooms are on the left, kitchen and hall in the middle, and living room, study and sauna on the right side.
Big panoramic windows enable for lots of natural light inside the house, in particular, the living room.
The living room is decorated with the amazing looking chandelier.
This modern wooden cottage also has a terrace of 12 square meters (on the right side).
There are two bedrooms on the ground floor of the house. The third room was transformed into the office. The master bedroom is stylishly designed by the owners, as is the whole house. It is decorated by the smaller chandelier. The bedroom has access to a large wardrobe room.
Guest bedroom is situated across the hall and has access to a smaller wardrobe space.
The kitchen is connected to the small dining room, and the living room. There are no doors that adds to the impression of spaciness.
The kitchen’s utilities are conveniently placed around the room with wall surfaces matching the floor. White cupboards add to the brightness of the room.
Central hall gives access to all of the rooms in the house. In the kitchen, one can see the dining space near the big bright window.
The living room’s central element is the grey-tinted soapstone fireplace by the Finnish company Tulikivi. On the right of the picture one can see the laminated squared log out of which the whole house is built The log measures at 240 by 260 millimetres. This is sufficient to provide warmth in the middle of the Finnish winter!
The bathroom is a truly beautiful sight with bright tiles and big panoramic mirror.
The house also has a utility room with washing machine and a large bathroom with two showers.
The house’s most authentic-looking space is its traditional Finnish sauna. It’s walls and surfaces are made out of dead-standing kelo pine log.
As Finnish tradition stands, the sauna is under the supervision of two Sauna Elves who take care of the good spirit in the room!
