Villa Nikkesmelle: a unique log home for Norway with the concept of “house in the forest”
Aito Log Houses, in collaboration with its distributor Hus og Hytte Laft, has delivered a stunning 224-square-meter Villa Nikkesmelle for Norway. This house, made of laminated logs, was erected on the picturesque Malmøya Island, located just a few kilometers from the center of Oslo.
The building was designed by Gartnerfuglen Arkitekter using the “house in the forest” (“huset i skogen”) concept. Instead of lawns, hedges, or flower beds, the construction seamlessly blends into the existing unique archipelago environment.
Notably, the project incorporates interesting technical solutions, such as frameless windows. In these fixed windows, traditional frames are absent, and a special glass element is directly embedded into the log framework.
This design maximizes the window’s effective surface area, providing unobstructed views of the surroundings.
Thanks to frameless windows solution, abundant natural light floods the interior, and the building’s appearance is exceptionally sleek. Additionally, Villa Nikkesmelle boasts several other architecturally intriguing and innovative features.
